Bye Bye Blues - The lone Michelin Star restaurant in Palermo
Bye Bye Blues was a splurge but great choice.
On one of our last nights in Italy, we selected the lone Michelin Star restaurant in Palermo -- Bye Bye Blues.
We aren’t typically fine dining people, but figured since we were celebrating -- and it was walkable from our B&B in the Mondello beach neighborhood of Palermo that it was worth a visit.
It wasn’t hard to get a reservation since we went during the offseason, and we booked online. They do take credit card information if you do not canceled.
We arrived for our 8pm reservation. The restaurant is located in a residential neighborhood in Mondello, about a 10-15 minute walk away from the beach.
The menu had a three options -- a 5 course tasting menu, a 7 course tasting menu or a la carte. 5 course was 65 euros and 7 course was 90 euros. The a la carte menu allowed you to select items off the tasting menu. I did not see a wine pairing option, but we went with a bottle of local red.
R went with the tasting menu and E went with the a la carte.
Given this is Sicily, most of the options were seafood focused. Mainly seafood pasta. The crusted fish was excellent.
Presentation was exceptional, and the pace fit a fine dining atmosphere.
The service was great and attentive. As expected for a Michelin Star joint. There was a lone server who took care of the restaurant. Though we were VERY surprised to be one of two couples in the restaurant the entire time. We visited in mid-September so this was outside of the typical tourist season, and we also ate on a Tuesday, but given the reviews of this restaurant thought it would be a bit more popular.
Would I go back? Probably not. As again we aren’t fine dining foodies. But for a special occasion in Mondello or Sicily, you should consider it. Definitely not twin (or kid) friendly!
